Grace increase all the more...
But where sin increased, grace increased all the more. Romans 5:20b
God's grace is never to be taken lightly. It is His amazing gift to us. Sin in any form is to be dealt with and confessed to the One who is holy and righteous. Just like Adam and Eve first did in the Garden of Eden, we can try to run away from its consequences, deny our part, or hide from God, but all those tactics don't work (Genesis 3:7-13). All disobedience is rebellion against God. Satan's lies have continued down throughout history and with them have come their penalty - death.
In Romans 5, Paul wrote about the solution to our sin problem. Through Adam sin came into the world, but God's remedy came also through one man, Jesus Christ (5:1, 15). God's Son left heaven to take on human flesh and live among us. He lived a sinless life and willingly died in our place on Calvary's cruel cross to bring about our redemption (John 3:16-17, Romans 5:19, 2 Corinthians 5:21). He arose again conquering death and brought eternal life to all who believe in Him as their Savior (John 1:12).
The marvelous gift of God's grace comes at that moment a person truly puts their faith in Jesus' atoning work on their behalf. The line is crossed, and grace greater than all their sins is received for past, present, and future transgressions against God. It is hard for us to fathom the depth of love that God has shown to those who receive His free, but costly, gift of grace.
